The Tip of a Crescent Moon

BY Costandinos

Poem | THEME: Of Love

In the shadow of your moonlit memory my heart beats in solitude with sorrow, reminiscing of the tender moments we shared for ours was a summer of youthful love, when two innocent souls surrendered themselves to the tides of passion.

Frolicking, like multi-colored grains of sand churning in the surf, we wrapped ourselves in a sandcastle of affection enjoying the simple pleasures of togetherness, as we explored one another in nature’s purest form.

The sound of raindrops falling on a leaf frightened those who loved me, as they dashed my innocence upon the rocks of hypocrisy, watching, as I pulled Eros’ arrow from your heart and plunged it into mine, damning me with eternal remorse.

As teardrops of shame fall upon the starlight, I stare into the prism of time contemplating “what if”, knowing that ours was meant to remain unanswered, for destiny left us dangling from the tip of a crescent moon.
