Poems touched by the winds of antiquity

“Painting is silent poetry, and poetry is painting that speaks.”

Plutarch

Poetry, from the Greek "poieses", is believed to have originated 5,000 years ago as ritualistic chants used during religious ceremonies and rites of passage.

Some of the earliest written poetry, such as the Epic of Gilgameshcan and those discovered among the Pyramid Texts, date from the 3rd millennium BC.

Poets throughout history, from Homer to Byron to modern day rappers (yes, I view rappers as modern-day poets) have understood that all of life's emotions can be distilled into the lines of a poem. Love, hate, anger, sorrow, elation, bitterness and more, all may find residence in poems.

May the poetic works posted on this website, reach inside your heart and light a candle of reflection. Hopefully, emitting a flicker or two of light that stirs a fresh breadth within your soul, allowing for the exhale of life’s angst, followed by the inhale of joy, warmth, comfort and consolation.

About me

Stages of development are one of nature’s more gratifying facets. A butterfly, for example, evolves through the egg, caterpillar larva and pupa cycles, before metamorphosizing into a beautiful adult.

Artistic aspiration has always stirred within me, but, like a beast of burden, I never found the courage nor time to pursue my dream. Thankfully, after lying dormant for 3-score years, the instars of my poetic evolution have reached completion, providing me an opportunity to unharness my pen and unfurl my wings.
